The Mobile Phone

Half way drive to the office
At the traffic signal, felt my pocket
Oh! What have I done?
Missed my heart-beat for an eternal moment

The signal got green,
Traffic piled up by the lane
Should I turn back home?
Should I go forward alone?

Reached office in a half baked mind
Frantically searched the wallet once again
Oh what have I done?
There goes my heart beat again!

You came to my life to ease my mind
I surrendered to you as though I was destined
Today, you made me realize my moment of Truth
My memory has become the bubble froth

Spent the day recalling her number
Searched her mails January to November
There she was, my heart beating with joy
Hearing her voice, my eyes ready to cry

Thus my mind begins to ponder
Never again will I forget to remember
To carry my mobile, I should set a reminder
But, what was her mobile number?

The Book-shelf

The Book-shelf

I sit in my library staring the book-shelf
They have all grown in number

Books of fiction, biographies, self-help and many more
Books which hold the triumphs of the past and the key to the future
All lay together hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder
Each have their own legacy and yet are mute spectators
They don't say a word and yet inspire its reader
giving us food for thought

The books in my book-shelf are authored by many the world over
yet they are comfortable to lay together
No complaints and protests..
They are just books without any class and creed
lay there in the book-shelf with a silent prayer
'Please pick me up and read through me
I provide you means to enrich your wisdom'

The books in my book-shelf
are a thousand mirrors
If only I could see myself through one of them!

Who am I?.... I asked the pen in the pen stand...

You are the person who held me by your hand
while I danced at your will...
You were eager to caress me
when you'd see me secured in your father's hand

I gave comfort to your nervous hands
when you held me on your first day of junior-high,
We both shared a great time together..
Our first outing was a joy to remember

I would always flow out at your will
when you'd want to scribble the lecture notes
when you'd struggle answering the tricky exam
I was your mode of communication to the world around

I shared your nervousness when you expressed your first love,
I witnessed your joy when you signed your first job
I celebrated with you when you registered your marriage
I prided my presence in your hand..

As time progressed, you put me in the pen-stand
I had to retire,
you found new ways to avoid me
I didn't complain.

I continue to be your companion and identity
to the world out there
if only you would hold me in your hands
I would be blessed to bring back my dance..
